We always try to make every song we do sound like a track. It’s vocal, but we want it to be really full so no one really can even know if it’s a cappella. It’s not like it’s missing anything, per se.

Moving to L.A. and making albums was an exciting outlet, but I always thought I’d be slumming it job to job in N.Y.C. with hopes of being on Broadway!

The energy that a crowd gives you is so amazing and so fun because when the crowd’s having fun, it makes us even more excited, and it feels like we’re all having fun together. It’s like a big party.

I loved performing and knew it was what I wanted to do for the rest of my life, that regardless of monetary success, I wanted to make an impact while doing what I loved and that would be successful for me.

In my honest opinion, in ‘Volumes I’ and ‘II,’ we were still trying to figure out our sound.

I love being able to fulfill such a huge and special part of myself with Pentatonix. But there is still so much more to me that, honestly, people don’t get to see because we’re in a group.

It’s really, really cool that we’ve been able to have these opportunities to surround ourselves with these people because they’re brilliant. Like, Dolly Parton is legendary, and she‘s maybe the nicest person I’ve ever met in my entire life and, like, amazing.

The first artist that did it for me with just production was James Blake… I was just blown away… I feel like James Blake kind of was the one that introduced me into that world.

When Pentatonix started, my whole vision of what I thought my life was gonna be completely changed – in a great way, obviously. I never thought that I would have the confidence to do this.

I feel like it has been a journey throughout the years to be accepting of my culture – I always felt different and not as accepting of it.

Our album stuff, we bring it to our producer to help us finesse. But anything that’s been on YouTube and a lot of the stuff that’s been on the album, too, it started from us just sitting around in a circle and jamming it and finding where the parts fit.

A miserable karaoke experience is when people are trying really hard and trying to show off. You have to just be chill – that’s what makes karaoke fun.

I feel like a lot of like the old-timey Christmas songs, the classics, a lot of it is very vocal. A lot of harmonies and, like, crooners, it puts you in that holiday spirit, I feel like.

I love singing our Christmas songs every chance we get. It’s really cute.

I’ve always loved lyrics, so I used to listen to Sara Bareilles – more folky, singer-songwritery people.
