It really felt like my generation was deprived of a future that we believed was ours. I don’t mean some hugely privileged future where we all have gigantic houses. I mean having a job.
339
Broadway has the most savvy audience anywhere. They see everything and they know their theater. As sophisticated and subtle as you think you can be, the houses you get here will want something finer.

Rappers aren’t the really rich ones. We all have nice houses with studios and cars, but you need a piece of someone’s business to be super wealthy.
342
Did I get to go to my friends’ houses and eat junk food? Sure. And I’m a great cook. And, guess what? There’s no prepared food in my house.

On Capitol Hill and in state houses across the country, anti-women’s health politicians continue to make it clear that they will stop at nothing to end access to a safe, legal abortion.
347
Once I tried to make a standardization of staircases. Probably that is one of the oldest of the standardizations. Of course, we design new staircase steps every day in connection with all our houses, but a standardized step depends on the height of the buildings and on all kinds of things.

I sang in the coffee houses of the country in the early ’60s with no idea of success in terms of records or television. I just thought I was a storyteller. I didn’t even think of myself as a singer.

I don’t go to journalists‘ houses and start dishing about anything private.

As life goes on, we accrue more and more loseable objects. Providence dictates that objects that are too large to lose, such as houses, always come with tiny little keys, specially designed to give you the slip.

I live in one of Judy Garland’s houses. As a fan, I never much liked Judy Garland, but living here, I feel like I have come to know her. People have given me a few of her possessions, and my neighbors have told me things that I wish I didn’t know.

I lived in Georgetown in the late ’70s about four houses down from the steps.

The map we made of the 3,000-year-old city of Tanis requires no imagination. It has buildings, streets, admin complexes, houses – clear as day.
369
I used to like to break into other people’s houses and sit in their rooms. I found it very comforting to be in someone’s empty house.

I couldn’t really tell if it was a different childhood because I was used to it, it was kind of normal to me. The only time I remember it felt a bit odd was when I went to other people’s houses and they were calling people ‘dad.’ I wouldn’t get that. But my uncle, who also lived with me, was a father figure.

I didn’t come from a rich family. We had no money. And now living in all these lavish houses and property around the world, it’s my choice. It’s something that I’ve worked for.
374
The more the government has centralised, the less houses we have built.
375
It is not, of course, complete yet – but some sentences were understood this afternoon… I feel that I have at last struck the solution of a great problem – and the day is coming when telegraph wires will be laid onto houses just like water or gas – and friends converse with each other without leaving home.
376
There are media houses which put headline with a question mark, and that is how they can get away without taking the accountability of the allegation. They put the question mark. Let’s analyze it a little – a common reader will not remember the question mark: they will remember the allegation.

I’m very thankful to live in a country where the government provides my protection – many police and armored cars and safe houses and things like that.
379
I would say the only thing I may change is that my whole family could live in Louisiana. That would be nice if all our houses were a block away from each other. That, to me, would be the best thing in the entire world.

Tarek and I have a common goal to create beautiful houses for families. We work hard but our priority is spending quality time with our wonderful kids and raising them to appreciate the love of family.
382
I didn’t grow up in a house – we moved a lot, and we always lived in apartments. But we looked a lot; we went to open houses almost every weekend. I think that’s why I always wanted a house.

Yokohama does not improve on further acquaintance. It has a dead-alive look. It has irregularity without picturesqueness, and the grey sky, grey sea, grey houses, and grey roofs, look harmoniously dull.
